		Pediatric infectious diseases
A point of reference in the field of pediatric research related to vaccination, infectious diseases and optimization of antibiotic therapy, the team is involved in numerous national and international clinical trials.
Pediatric respiratory diseases
Focus of research activity is the study of pediatric respiratory diseases, particularly on the correlation between asthma and childhood obesity, treatment of severe bronchial asthma, etiology and therapy of pediatric bronchiectasis, respiratory sleep disorders, respiratory infections, and the impact of environmental pollution on pediatric respiratory diseases. A number of national and international clinical trials are active.
Rare Diseases
Research activity is focused on the study of rare diseases such as epidermolysis bullosa, ichthyosis, Ehlers Danlos syndrome, and hyperaccessions.  A number of national and international clinical trials are active.
Metabolic diseases
The research team is engaged in the study of inherited metabolic diseases, particularly lysosomal storage diseases, mucopolysaccharidosis, mucolipidosis, gangliosidosis, protein glycosylation deficiency, diseases of amino acid metabolism, organic acidosis and amino acidopathies, urea cycle defects, carbohydrate diseases, glycogenosis, fructosemia, galactosemia, hyperinsulinisms and mitochondrial beta oxidation, and mitochondriopathies.
Study of genotype-phenotype correlations in malformation syndromes and mental retardation
Main research activities are genetic analysis of psychomotor retardation/intellectual disability and autism and identification of genetic causes of complex syndromes by requesting cytogenetic and/or molecular analysis.
Pediatric allergies
Research activity is aimed at the study of respiratory and food allergic diseases and keratoconjunctivitis Vernal
