Integrated approach to the study of hematological diseases and the immune system /
Dermatology
Unit
Skin diseases with systemic implicationsResearch activity focuses mainly on frequently encountered immune-mediated skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and urticaria and skin diseases of an autoimmune nature such as pemphigus, pemphigoid, scleroderma, lupus, dermatomyositis, vasculitis, pyoderma gangrenosum and other neutrophilic dermatoses. Another condition once considered rare but now considered frequently encountered on which the team focuses its efforts is hydrosadenitis suppurativa.
In addition, the team is a point of reference for lichen scleroatrophicus, a rare immune-mediated disease, for which a multidisciplinary team focused on diagnosis and treatment of the aforementioned pathology and the production of basic and clinical research studies is active.
Also being researched are skin neoplasms such as melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, the latter of which are commonly observed, as well as cutaneous lymphomas and histiocytosis, which represent rare forms instead. Several national and international clinical trials are active on all the above-mentioned diseases.
