OMIC Science Lab
Genomics, Epigenomics and Transcriptomics Platform
The research activity is focused on the implementation in the Foundation of OMIC technologies based on next-generation gene sequencing (NGS) analysis, transcriptome profiling (RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq and digital count Nanostring), epigenetic analysis by both NGS (Methyl-seq) and array (Infinium-Illumina) methods. The laboratory provides support to the researchers of the Polyclinic in carrying out the above-mentioned analyses by taking over all or part of the execution of libraries, Quality control, sequencing, and secondary and tertiary analysis of the data.
Future goal is to integrate the lines of research groups that exploit bioinformatics approaches operating in the Polyclinic (including for example radiomics and image analysis approaches, artificial intelligence and machine learning for clinical risk prediction, integrated multi-omics approaches), allowing to open new lines and research support accessible to all groups dedicated to both clinical and basic science. The ultimate goal is to enable through the study of new molecular markers and single-cell resolution and computational capabilities, a precision medicine approach based on the study of causal mechanisms and therapies targeted to the characteristics of the individual, the next paradigm revolution in medical sciences.
